About the role

Fortum Innovation & Venturing (I&V) seeks future business opportunities beyond current operations, focusing on Horizon 3 innovations that support Fortum’s purpose. I&V develops strategic insights and invests in internal growth ventures and minority-owned assets, including venture capital funds.

As a Summer Trainee in Innovation & Venturing, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping how Fortum Innovation & Venturing connects with the world. You’ll dive straight into designing and testing new ways for our innovation unit to engage with the ecosystem startups, Venture capitalists (VCs), industry partners and other relevant stakeholders.

• To boost our external presence, you’ll actively build our engagement strategy to connect with customers, startups, investors, and partners, using data insights and AI tools to create engaging content that resonates with our audience.
  
  
• You’ll get hands-on with ecosystem-mapping tools to identify and connect with key players in the innovation ecosystem.
  
  
• Your main challenge will be to develop how our innovation unit brands itself for the future - developing an engagement playbook, fresh visual identity concepts, and digital outreach methods.
  
  
• Everything you do will help us stand out and build stronger relationships across the innovation ecosystem.

About you

We’re seeking a committed student currently pursuing a master’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, or another relevant field. You have a strong interest in innovation, startups, and a genuine passion for exploring and applying AI tools in a strategic context.

You are:

• Pursuing a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., marketing, communication, innovation, entrepreneurship, digital strategy, or similar).
• Enthusiastic about the intersection of communication, and emerging technologies.
• Comfortable experimenting with AI-assisted tools and digital platforms.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, as our internal materials and meetings are primarily conducted in English.
• Curious, proactive, and eager to learn—ready to contribute ideas and take ownership of projects.
