About the role
We are looking for a summer trainee to the New Nuclear business area. In this role you will have an opportunity to be involved broadly in the development of Fortum’s New Nuclear project in Sweden. The areas and tasks can have technical focus or more business development related focus - detailed areas and assignments will be set based on the applicant´s interests and experience.

This position allows a possibility to learn more about nuclear newbuild projects from various perspectives, both regarding nuclear technologies and business model conditions.

Your assignments may include but not be limited to:

  • Nuclear back-end related investigations or business development.
  • Supply chain related studies or assessments
  • Licensing and permitting, both from process and contents point of view.
  • Environmental and site studies

Fortum is a strong nuclear operator with solid background of over 40 years of nuclear operations and is today co-owner of several nuclear power plants in the Nordics, Fortum is now investigating opportunities in nuclear new build. The ongoing studies are focused on the Swedish and Finnish markets, examining commercial, technological and societal, including political, legal and regulatory, conditions for new nuclear reactors.

About you
We’re seeking a committed student currently with at least 3 years of studies within Nuclear Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Process Engineering or similar relevant field.

To be successful in this role, you have:

  • Flexible and versatile mindset. The new nuclear project offers many different challenges and needs and you should be willing to contribute broadly.
  • Strong interpersonal characteristics and social skills. Working with different stakeholders in multi-cultural environment comes naturally for you.
  • Good communication and language skills. Good command of the Swedish and English language (written and oral) is a must.
  • Questioning attitude and desire to learn. Effective problem identification and solution skills, with a strong sense of responsibility.
