Summer Trainee, Project Engineer

About the role
Engineering & Projects is responsible for implementing Fortum's nuclear power projects. We are experts working on demanding tasks at Loviisa and co-owned nuclear power plants, employing around 150 top professionals. We support external customers by delivering world-class nuclear power services globally. In addition, we have a strong focus in nuclear research and development and provide expertise to new nuclear and hydrogen projects.
We are now looking for a Summer trainee (Project Engineer), in final studying stage, to join our Project management and Execution department of Engineering & Projects (E&P). In this role you will have an exciting opportunity to participate in the execution of our ongoing projects. As a project engineer you will support our project managers and perform independently tasks related to the projects. The tasks will include project planning and time management, coordination of design work and document management, supplier management and other project management assignments.
Some of your tasks may include:
- Coordinating design work and document management
- Project progress follow up with the core project team and suppliers
- Supplier management
- Project planning, creating a work breakdown structure and time schedules, as well as project progress follow up
- Creating/reviewing Project Management training content and/or implementing training content into Fortum digital learning platform
- Supporting the project managers in various project management tasks
As a summer trainee (Project Engineer), you will have the opportunity to work closely with our project managers and the project teams, and get knowledge on how large delivery projects are managed in Fortum’s nuclear businesses and for our external customers.
The position’s location is in Espoo or Loviisa, Finland. However, occasional travelling to Fortum fleet locations and to external international customers is to be expected.
About you
To be successful in this role, we believe you bring the following:
- Basic understanding of Project Management principles and techniques
- Good knowledge in MS Project will be considered as a plus
- Education in Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management or Energy Technology are considered an advantage
- Organized approach to work tasks. Structured and detail-oriented way of working, and not afraid of routine tasks either.
- Proactiveness, perseverance and effective problem identification and solution skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational ability. Structured and detail-oriented way of working, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Outgoing team player and a "can do" attitude.
- Effective communication skills and ability to cooperate with multiple stakeholders.
- Good command of English language. Finnish and Swedish language skills will be considered as a plus
- Curiosity and willingness to learn and create training content for Project Professionals
