About the role

As a Summer Trainee, Innovation & Venturing, you will be supporting our innovation and investment thesis development. Your work will focus on synthesizing strategic insights on emerging trends, new business models, future technologies, and market opportunities - with a strong emphasis on understanding and addressing customer needs to create future business growth opportunities.

In this role you will:

• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify disruptive trends and business growth opportunities
• Support the development of innovation and investment theses and strategic recommendations for new ventures and investments
• Analyze customer pain points and translate them into actionable insights for innovation initiatives
• Prepare presentations and reports for senior stakeholders, summarizing findings and strategic implications
• Collaborate broadly with colleagues from Fortum Innovation & Venturing and other business units and functions

This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and grow your skills in corporate venturing, strategy, and innovation, while working on projects that influence long-term business growth.

About you

You are an ambitious and analytical student or a recent graduate who thrives in fast-paced, intellectually challenging environments. You combine strong business acumen with curiosity for innovation and emerging technologies. You enjoy solving complex problems, structuring insights, and turning data into actionable recommendations.

What we’re looking for:

• Currently pursuing degree or recently graduated in business, finance, economics, industrial engineering or a related field
• Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret market trends and financial data
• Strong strategic thinking and commercial mindset
• Comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint to structure data and create narrative-driven presentations
• Excellent communication skills - you can articulate ideas clearly and persuasively
• A proactive, self-driven mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver under tight deadlines
• Interest in venture capital, corporate strategy and innovation

Prior experience from consulting, investment banking or start-up environments is a plus (internships count).
