Summer Trainee, IAM - Impactful Summer 2026
Are you ready to power the future with a summer job at the heart of the energy industry? Apply now and join us for an impactful summer 2026!
About the role
Our Platform Engineering team includes a dedicated IAM (Identity & Access Management) squad responsible for ensuring secure and smooth access to Fortum’s digital services. We are looking for a Summer Trainee to support us in maintaining and improving Fortum’s identity platform — including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and basic certificate‑related tasks.
IAM ensures that the right individuals have the right access at the right time. As a trainee, you’ll get the chance to work with the foundations of modern digital identity in a supportive environment where tasks are adapted to your experience and interests.
Your tasks may include:
- Assisting with identity lifecycle activities (joiner–mover–leaver)
- Supporting access governance and access request processes
- Learning the basics of AD and Entra ID administration
- Helping with simple certificate renewal/checks under guidance
- Contributing to documentation and small development or testing tasks
- Collaborating with experienced IAM specialists within Platform Engineering
The focus is on learning, getting hands‑on understanding, and contributing meaningfully - without needing deep IAM expertise beforehand.
About you
We hope you apply if you are:
- A student or recent graduate in IT, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field
- Interested in identity, authentication, directory services, or IT security
- Familiar with basic concepts like users, groups, permissions, or MFA
- Comfortable working in English (Finnish and/or Swedish is an advantage)
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
It’s a plus - but not required - if you have:
- Some exposure to Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or Microsoft 365
- Basic understanding of PKI, certificates, or authentication basics
- Experience with PowerShell or any scripting language
- General interest in cybersecurity or infrastructure
We offer you
- A supportive environment where you can grow your skills in IAM, security, and enterprise infrastructure
- Real tasks that help you understand how identity works across a large organization
- A hybrid work model with flexible hours
- A chance to collaborate with IAM experts and other Platform Engineering teams
- Networking opportunities with other trainees
- Experience that can help you continue with Fortum — many trainees stay as part‑timers or thesis workers
