Senior Purchaser, Hydro

About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing procurement needs from Hydro, managing procurement activities, developing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
You will have a key role in the hydro and finance organizations, working together with cross functional teams to ensure procurement is in time, in cost and in quality. You will be sourcing deliveries related both to investments projects as well as to operations and maintenance of the Hydro assets. You will be working in the strategic procurement team supporting Hydro Generation, operating in both Sweden and Finland.
 

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Conduct thorough assessment of procurement needs across Hydro departments

• Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to (local) needs, ensuring alignment with the overall procurement strategy of the Hydro business unit.

• Identify and evaluate potential (local or national) suppliers for goods and services working together with Procurement Category managers, the Hydro procurement team and the Hydro representatives.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and favorable terms.

• Analyze and consolidate the needs of a large number of smaller projects, combining them with other needs to achieve economies of scale and efficiency while ensuring resources for timely execution.

• Run tenders and negotiate contracts to secure the best terms and conditions.

• Ensure that all procured goods and services are in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety requirements

• Continuously seek opportunities to improve procurement processes and efficiencies.

• Manage procurement-related risks and develop contingency plans as needed.

About you
You have an academic degree in a relevant field such as technology or business or have gathered strong experience during your career. You have at least 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the energy or heavy industry sector. You need to have strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills. Furthermore, you have strong problem solving and analytical skills, proven negotiation skills, commercial thinking and the ability to create and execute strategies from scratch. We value experience related to either project procurement or project management. Previous experience in the MRO category (maintenance, repair and operation) is an asset. You have the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. In addition, you are fluent in oral and written Swedish and English. Knowledge of the Finnish language is a plus.
