About the role
Are you ready to take on a key role in our corporate procurement team? As a Procurement Category Manager, Investment projects, you will be responsible for capex tenders within our hydro and nuclear power projects. You will be our expert in civil procurement, but you also excel in other investment procurement categories. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and contractors to ensure seamless procurement operations and the successful delivery of our projects. Your strategic mindset, technical acumen, and leadership skills will drive cost optimization, risk mitigation, and adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers and contractors, fostering strong partnerships and competitive relationships.
- Lead negotiations, contract development, and vendor performance management to ensure value for money and timely project execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and legal, to define procurement needs and specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, seeking innovative ways to enhance procurement processes, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to inform procurement strategies and decisions.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance evaluations, and resolution of any disputes or issues that may arise.
- Champion safety and environmental compliance within the civil category, aligning with company policies and industry standards.
Currently we have a large amount of investment projects in existing hydropower plants, especially in Sweden. The role will also contribute to Loviisa nuclear power plants Long Term Operating Program. The role will additionally contribute to our technical networks within Fortum.
The role can be based at any of our offices in Sweden. Managing the category requires close interaction and collaboration with our project teams located at different sites in Sweden and Finland and some travelling can be required. This role reports to Procurement Director, Hydro, Nuclear and CCM.
About you
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of 5+ years in procurement, with a focus on civil projects within the energy or construction sector.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and regulatory requirements. experience from hydro and nuclear power projects is a merit.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools; familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to analyze complex situations to make informed decisions.
- Leadership capabilities to inspire and guide cross-functional teams and external partners.
- You are fluent in oral and written Swedish and English. Finnish language skills is a clear advantage.
