About the role
As a Procurement Category Manager, Civil, you will be a key player in our corporate procurement team, responsible for managing the civil categories. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and contractors to ensure seamless procurement operations and the successful delivery of civil projects. Your strategic mindset, technical acumen, and leadership skills will drive cost optimization, risk mitigation, and adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for the civil category in alignment with company objectives and project requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers and contractors, fostering strong partnerships and competitive relationships.
- Lead negotiations, contract development, and vendor performance management to ensure value for money and timely project execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and legal, to define procurement needs and specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, seeking innovative ways to enhance procurement processes, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to inform procurement strategies and decisions.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance evaluations, and resolution of any disputes or issues that may arise.
- Champion safety and environmental compliance within the civil category, aligning with company policies and industry standard
Currently we have a large amount of investment projects in existing hydropower plants, especially in Sweden. The role will also contribute to Loviisa nuclear power plants Long Term Operating Program, our New Nuclear plans as well as to other projects The role will additionally contribute to our technical networks within Fortum.
The role can be based at any of our hydro or nuclear offices in Sweden. Managing the category requires close interaction and collaboration with our project teams located at different sites in Finland and Sweden and travelling 20-30% of working time can be required.
This role reports to Procurement Director, Hydro, Nuclear and CCM.
About you
As a driven and strategic professional, you combine deep expertise in procurement and civil projects with leadership and collaboration skills. Your ability to navigate complex challenges, build effective partnerships, and inspire teams makes you a key contributor to our mission of delivering high-quality, sustainable energy solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of 5+ years in procurement, with a focus on civil projects within the energy or construction sector.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and regulatory requirements.
- Experience from hydro and nuclear power projects, or other significant infrastructure projects is a strong merit.
- In-depth knowledge and proven experience with the AB contract model, with the ability to act as the company’s lead expert and advisor on its application in civil procurement projects
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in Swedish and English,
- Strategic thinking and the ability to analyze complex situations to make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools; familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
