Fortum’s Wind and Solar business area is responsible for the development of wind and solar business. Our aim is to grow especially in our home market where conditions for wind and solar power are excellent. Wind and solar power play a crucial role in decarbonization of our societies.
The location for this position is flexible and can be in any region of Sweden. We have offices for example in Stockholm, Östersund, Göteborg, Karlstad and Malmö.
About the role
As Head of Development for our Wind Project Development department, you will lead and oversee all aspects of our wind power projects, from concept to realization. You will work closely with our technical team, external partners and government agencies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. The role will also involve you in the development of hybrid projects where we combine wind, solar, battery energy storage (BESS) and other renewable energy sources.
In the role as Head of Development, the following will be part of your responsibilities:

Lead and develop the wind project development team

Develop and implement project development strategies

Ensure that all projects comply with applicable laws and regulations

Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, suppliers and local communities

Monitor project budgets and schedules

Identify and manage risks and resolve any issues that arise during the course of projects.
The Fortum organization has key experts in each area of Wind and Solar (engineering, construction, operation), as well as more business-related experts (procurement, offtake, and strategy) to support you in your work.
You will be reporting to the Head of Development Sweden.
About you
To be successful in the role as Head of Development, we see that you bring the following competences:

A university degree in a relevant field, such as Civil engineering, economics, or business administration

Several years of experience in project management in wind power or other renewable energy

Proven experience in leading and developing teams
-
Strong understanding of technical, financial and regulatory aspects of wind energy projects
-
Excellent communication and leadership skills together with strong negotiating skills
-
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
-
Strong understanding in wind power business
-
Fluency in Swedish and English is essential
