We are looking for a skilled Commercial Controller to join our team as a key strategic partner for business leaders and the Nordic Customer Success team. In this role, you will support decision-making with financial insights, control all sales within the Nordic Customers business function, and help drive business performance. You will collaborate closely with department heads to optimize financial planning, reporting, and performance management, while ensuring strong sales management and achievement of performance targets.

In this role you can be based in our offices in Finland, Sweden or Norway. 

 

About the role

A Commercial Controller at Fortum Finance Function plays a pivotal role in driving operational and financial performance, strategic decision-making, within the organization. The role would be responsible for driving operational and financial performance, strategic decision-making in Nordic Customers. Coordinating financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes, providing insightful analysis and recommendations and challenging management to support business objectives and growth.

 

Main responsibility area is Consumer Solutions Business Unit (COS), responsible for the electricity and gas retail businesses in the Nordics, Poland, and Spain. Fortum is the largest electricity consumer business in the Nordics and the biggest challenger in Polish market. The business provides electricity and gas as well as related value-adding and digital services.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Business control and performance management within own responsibility area including monthly closing and forecasting data entry and analysis
  • Provides analysis, forecasts and recommendations to improve business performance including involvement in business case analysis from finance support point of view
  • Providing insight of monthly cost development on channel level in order sales team to optimize the channel mix and sales activities e.g. by actively reviewing sales commission models, sales costs per vendor, per activity
  • Securing efficient processes/tools for own responsibility area
  • Participation to process and tool development including harmonization

 

Planning & Complexity:

  • Business understanding of CoS customer processes (e.g. Sales, Onboarding, procurement)
  • High complicity, since responsible for the Controlling of entities in multiple countries
  • Identifying underlying business key performance indicators (KPI) and sparring decision making through KPI follow-up in supporting areas
  • Balancing growth with profitability

 

People management & Relations:

  • Strong and intensive interaction with Operation Units in Nordic countries
  • Ensure compliance and profitability in sales operations
  • Co-operate and align with other CoS BA’s and Business Controllers and Teams

 

 

About you

  • Strong proactive approach, with focus on improving processes and performance and ability to work independently also in complex tasks.
  • You are structured and analytical, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and can influence stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong storytelling, communication & presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic and business-oriented mindset.
  • Skilled user in analytical, financial and statistical tools.
  • 3-5 years of experience from the consulting industry or similar roles, with commercial analysis or business/sales controlling.
  • Academic degree in Business, Economics or other relevant advanced degree.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
