We are looking for a Balance Settlement Specialist to join our Balance Settlement team in Espoo (Finland), Solna (Sweden) or Oslo (Norway). 

 

About the Role
At Fortum, our Balance Settlement is the crucial link between electricity production, physical trading, and financial reporting. We are responsible for managing imbalance settlement for the Balance Responsible Party (BRP) role in the Nordics, ensuring seamless operations and accurate financial outcomes. Our team supports both Physical trading and our B2B business in the operational work but also in development.

 

As a Balance Settlement Specialist, you will be responsible for various daily operational tasks, ensuring accurate data reconciliation for production and consumption trading across multiple countries. You will play a vital role in identifying discrepancies, reviewing production and consumption data, and verifying trading data with external sources like Nord Pool and eSett.

 

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing process improvements and development projects, where your expertise will be valuable. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external partners.

 

About You
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in the energy sector and numbers. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team spread across locations in the Nordics.

 

In order to succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Relevant university level degree (or equivalent in experience)
  • Work experience from the energy industry with physical trading, balance settlement and/or back office tasks experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of Brady EDM system is an advantage, but also strong Excel and other computer software skills, such as Power BI
  • Ability to communicate with several stakeholders and handle a variety of different topics during your work day
  • Ability to be self-driven and organized in your work
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in spoken Finnish and/or Swedish or Norwegian is a benefit for the position holder to effectively collaborate with the team and engage with the local TSO and comply with legislation.

 

Your daily tasks will require a strong attention to detail and an ability to work with numbers systematically. You should also be motivated to contribute to process improvements within the team. Familiarity with the Nordic energy system and/or different balance settlement vendors is a plus.
