About the role
As Tax Manager, International Tax, you will play a key role in managing international tax matters, tax audit readiness and tax controversy topics across Fortum. Working in close co-operation with the business and the Fortum Group Tax Team, you will apply Fortum’s Tax Principles when advising on complex cross-border transactions, internal financing, transfer pricing and strategic tax planning. You will also coordinate tax audits and litigation related to internal financing by working with tax authorities, external legal advisers and internal stakeholders. The position is based in Shannon, Ireland.
In your role, you will:
- Advise on and optimise the tax aspects of international transactions, including internal financing, leasing and Treasury matters
- Contribute to Group transfer pricing documentation and manage internal financing, leasing and Treasury transfer pricing topics end to end
- Manage the tax audit readiness process for material and cross-border transactions, identifying high-risk areas and ensuring effective controls and documentation
- Participate in cross-border and tax audits and litigation, with particular focus on double tax agreements and internal financing matters
- Review tax assessments, court decisions and legal documentation, and prepare technical responses, appeals and defence submissions
- Manage Irish mandatory disclosure obligations and contribute to tax advocacy in strategic litigation
- Build effective relationships and work in close co-operation with business stakeholders, tax authorities and external advisers across multiple countries
About you
You will have a strong academic and professional background in tax, with deep knowledge of international tax law. You are comfortable analysing complex issues, applying sound judgement and working with diverse stakeholders in an international business environment.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Relevant academic qualification in tax, law, finance or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in international business and tax
- Deep knowledge of tax law, international taxation, transfer pricing, tax audits and legal processes
- Ability to analyse tax assessments and legal documentation and prepare clear, robust technical submissions
- Fluency in written and spoken English

- A business-oriented mindset and confidence working with financial information
- Confidence in using AI and other digital tools responsibly to support research, analysis and process improvement
- Ability to coordinate differing interests and processes across countries and functions
- A proactive approach to improving processes and helping others meet tax and compliance requirements
