We are looking for a Financial Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME), Record-to-Report (R2R) to join Fortum’s Finance Development.

 

You will be responsible for leading the development of the financial accounting process. You will have a key role in implementing accounting processes and tools as part of ERP renewal project during the coming years. You possess deep expertise in financial reporting, accounting principles, and R2R best practices. In collaboration with the business and function stakeholders, you will be a key person to drive financial accounting related actions forward.
 

Your key responsibilities include, e.g.:

  • Driving a seamless end-to-end process design and implementation in financial accounting processes
  • Implement best practices and ensure that financial accounting processes (e.g. manual journal entry process, balance sheet reconciliation, etc.) are streamlined, efficient, and meet business requirements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations and company policies, addressing any areas of risk or non-compliance
  • Working together with our business and finance stakeholders to ensure the processes are adopted, and they are efficient and aligned with the required standards
  • Ensuring data quality, standard way to operate, operational transparency and continuous improvement
  • Managing communication and collaboration among cross-functional stakeholders such as IT and Finance teams
  • Support Fortum finance with process explanation / training where needed
  • Identify and understand requirements and gaps in solutions and effectively conducts change management.

You will be part of Finance Development team and contributing to Record-to-report area roadmap, annual plans and KPIs. We are looking for a new team member in Gdansk, but we work flexibly in a hybrid model that adapts to both your professional and personal needs.

The position includes some travelling. 

 

About you,

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Suitable degree or equivalent competencies in e.g. accounting or technology, and preferably 5 years of working experience in a relevant field (e.g. consulting, accounting or process development). 
  • Proven track record with financial accounting processes preferably in a large-scale, global organization
  • Deep understanding of financial accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and consistency, IFRS knowledge is needed
  • Capabilities to work independently and in a matrix organization
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset where you seek best practices
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate efficiently across teams and stakeholders
  • Fluent written and spoken English, competence in other languages is an advantage.
  • Good technical capabilities working with ERP's and other financial management related systems (Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience in ERP implementation and transformation are considered as advantage
