Fortum Legal & Compliance team is responsible for Fortum's corporate and business legal affairs, ethics and compliance, data privacy and internal controls within the Fortum Group. We are a team of approximately 40 high-level professionals located in Finland, Sweden, Poland and Norway.

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated legal trainee to join the Legal & Compliance team as legal trainee. You will be based in our company headquarters in Espoo and work together with our Legal & Compliance team and other professionals, with a great opportunity to learn from experienced team members.

Our trainee program offers law students a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in working at a large publicly listed company. As legal trainee, you will support our Legal & Compliance team and other stakeholders in a wide variety of assignments. One of your key responsibilities as a trainee will be reviewing and drafting NDAs and other agreements, but you will also conduct legal research and provide other day-to-day legal support. A part of the tasks can also be tailored based on your personal interests and previous work experience. We offer you a challenging and rewarding working environment.

This is a full-time traineeship for a fixed period of 6-7 months. We hope that you will be able to start your traineeship on 19 February 2024.

About you
You are currently a law student, and you have completed at least half of your law studies at a Finnish law school, or you can otherwise demonstrate solid knowledge of Finnish laws and the legal system.

Below is a list for you to check if you could be a match for us

  • you have completed at least 180 ECTS of your legal studies (however, your master's degree is not completed yet at the time of starting the traineeship)
  • you have an excellent command of Finnish and English (both written and spoken), and great communication skills in general
  • you like to take initiative and also pay attention to detail
  • you are quick to analyse new information and to grasp the big picture
  • you are not afraid of working independently
  • you are eager to deepen your understanding of the energy sector and contract law.

In addition, you could benefit from having

  • previous work experience gained at a law firm and/or as part of a company's in-house legal team
  • international experience, e.g. exchange studies
  • experience in reviewing agreements.

We offer you
For you, working at Fortum means exciting opportunities to develop your expertise and create a meaningful career. With mutual trust, believing in people, and taking care of everyone's well-being, we can reach even better results. Flexibility is the new normal and we apply a hybrid way of working wherever possible.

Please submit your application (with a transcript of your studies) by Wednesday 29.11.2023 at the latest.
