About the role
As Legal Trainee, you will support our Legal team and also other stakeholders in a wide range of assignments. Your primary responsibilities will include independent reviewing of NDAs and other similar agreements, and you will also conduct legal research and perform other day-to-day legal support related tasks. Part of your tasks can be tailored based on your personal interests and prior experience, ensuring a challenging and fulfilling working environment. Fortum Group Legal team is responsible for Fortum's corporate and business legal affairs, ethics and compliance and data privacy within the Fortum Group. We are a team of over 40 high-level professionals located in Finland, Sweden, Poland and Norway.
This is a full-time traineeship for a fixed period of 6-7 months, starting on 23 February 2026.
About you
We are looking for a law student at the final stages of their law studies at a Finnish law school. Here is what we are looking for, in particular:
- Academic progress: you have completed at least 180 ECTS credits of your legal studies at the start of the traineeship (however, the position is tailored for a law student, so your master's degree should not be completed yet at the start of the traineeship).
- Language skills: you have excellent command of both written and spoken Finnish and English, with strong overall communication skills.
- Proactive mindset and precision: you show initiative in your work and approach tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Multitasking ability: you are capable of handling multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritising efficiently and meeting deadlines.
- Self-direction: you bring a solution-oriented attitude and feel confident working independently.
- Motivation and interest: you have a genuine interest in the work of an in-house legal counsel, and are eager to deepen your knowledge of the energy sector and contract law.
While not directly required, having the following experience is considered beneficial:
- previous work experience at a law firm and/or within an in-house legal team.
- experience in reviewing and drafting agreements.
- international experience, such as exchange studies.
