Tax Specialist

Join Fortum’s Statutory and Tax Compliance team in Espoo and play a key role in ensuring tax compliance and supporting business growth in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. In this role you will be responsible for tax compliance for Finnish companies served by our unit Financial and Operational Procurement Services (FPS). In addition, you are responsible for coordination of tax matters on local site and support the Statutory and Tax team as well as tax development. 

 

About the role

Your main responsibilities are: 

  • Overall ownership and responsibility for tax compliance in Finnish companies 

  • Responsibility for coordinating local tax issues with tax authorities and advisors 

  • Ensure correctness of group tax reporting for local companies (IAS 12) 

  • Follow and inform changes regarding Finnish tax regulations and ensuring that tax instructions are up to date 

  • Guidance and support to Statutory and Tax team and internal customers in tax related matters including providing trainings and related materials 

  • Collaboration with Global STC team, Corporate tax team, Finance and Fortum businesses in tax matters 

  • Tax process development and harmonization in FPS in co-operation with other stakeholders 

  • Other Ad Hoc tasks related to Finnish taxation 

 

About you

You have an applicable education in Finance/Tax related field, and a minimum professional experience of 3 years. You also have knowledge of Finnish accounting standard (FAS) and tax rules.  We value proactive problem-solvers who thrive in a collaborative environment and are comfortable managing complex tax matters. You are capable to work independently and as well as have good co-operation skills.  You have ability to work to strict deadlines and on several duties at the same time. 

 

You’ll benefit from having knowledge of: 

  • Finnish corporate income tax, VAT, excise tax, group contributions, payroll tax, IAS 12 and Pillar 2 

  • Basic accounting principles 

  • Common finance tools such as Qlik and Power BI 

  • Standard MS Office applications 

 

We also expect you to have a good command of Finnish and English. Occasional travel may be required.
