Sustainability Manager, Compliance

Join Fortum and play a role in driving compliance with emerging EU sustainability requirements while supporting our journey towards a more sustainable future. We are now looking for a Sustainability Manager, Compliance to join our Corporate Sustainability team in Espoo, Finland.

About the role

In the role of Sustainability Manager, Compliance, you will be responsible for developing Fortum’s approach and processes to meet EU and national regulatory requirements related to the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the Forced Labour Regulation, and the EU Batteries Regulation. You will also ensure compliance with these regulations and reporting requirements across the Group and its businesses.

We offer an exciting opportunity to join our Corporate Sustainability function at one of the leading energy companies in the Nordics. In this development-focused role, you will report to the Director of Sustainable Finance, Compliance and Social Sustainability. Our team works in a hybrid model and is located in both Espoo and Stockholm. We are now looking for a new team member to join us in Espoo, Finland.

In your role you will be responsible for:

• Leading the development of Group level due diligence governance and reporting process for human rights and environmental impacts including policies, stakeholder engagement, and remedy and grievance mechanism.
• Leading Group level reviews of the Supplier Code of Conduct and contract clauses to ensure alignment with EU and national regulatory requirements.
• Development of approach and principles for remedy in supply chain context.
• Participating in the annual sustainability reporting process within your area of responsibility.
• Providing high-level advice and support on a broad range of sustainability topics to businesses and other internal stakeholders.
   

About you

To succeed in the position, we hope you bring senior-level expertise and are self-driven professional with strong organisational and influencing skills. 

What we are looking for:

• Solid experience in sustainability working in multinational companies or in consulting, as well as relevant academic degree
• Good knowledge of, and practical experience in, the development and implementation of EU sustainability regulations, as well as supply chain sustainability and due diligence processes
• A development- and business-oriented mindset, combined with strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
• Fluency in English and Finnish; Swedish is an advantage
