Subproject Manager, Wind & Solar

We are looking for a Subproject Manager within Construction for our Wind & Solar business. In this position you will strengthen our Nordic Project Management Team and be part of delivering pre-engineering and construction of multi-million investment project within Wind and Solar.

About the role 

We are seeking someone experienced with complex infrastructure projects, preferably with experience from solar and/or wind construction projects. You will collaborate closely with development, procurement, engineering, asset management, and external partners ensuring to deliver our strategic projects safely on time & budget. The role is located in a dynamic Construction department at Fortum, where we are accountable for large solar and wind projects from investment decision to end of life.  

  

Onshore wind and solar is the growth focus in Fortum’s newly launched strategy and you will be an essential team member executing the strategy and supporting in developing the project from a pre-engineering phase all the way to finalizing the construction on site.

In the position as Sub-Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be the following:  

  • Report to the General Project Manager the progress of the sub-stream (EPC- contracts / Ebop -contracts or Wind turbine Generator - contracts) depending on the project. 

  • Manage sub-streams of wind and large scale solar projects, starting from pre-engineering activities, through construction and until hand over to operations.  

  • Develop and control/monitor of contracts with suppliers and service providers. 

  • Execute projects with responsibility for budget, risk, quality, scheduling and controlling according to Fortum’s Project management model.  

  • Contribute in developing Project management processes 

  • Report and communicate of Key Performance Indices.  

  • Leadership of the projects multi-disciplinary team 

  • Collaborate and build relationships with the development, engineering, procurement & asset management teams to support projects in all phases. 

  

About you

Above all, a passion for teamwork and the ability to adapt to a multicultural, dynamic environment are essential. 

 

Besides the above, we see that you bring the following background:  

  • Approximately five years of relevant experience in Project or Technical Management within the wind and/or solar industry. Experience with large-scale solar projects is a plus.  
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent technical project management experienced gained from work life 

  • Strong technical understanding within relevant fields  

  • Experience of leading technical projects and expert teams in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Experienced in MS-project or similar project management tools. 

  • Strong project management skills, including scope management and timeline adherence preferable with PMP or IPMA certificates.  

  • Fluency in written and spoken English & Finnish; additional Nordic languages are a plus.  

  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally to project sites when project requires it.
