Senior Portfolio Manager

We are searching for an experienced and motivated Senior Portfolio Manager to take on a crucial role in our key responsibility areas in the fast-evolving energy market. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact.

Our Portfolio Management & Pricing team is responsible for managing Fortum’s hedging portfolio and pricing Corporate Customers and Markets’ (CCM) offerings, such as PPA’s, for both our external and internal customers.
 

About the role

In this senior level expert position, you will be developing and executing Fortum’s portfolio steering for the strategic hedging horizon in the Nordic context, in alignment with company’s strategy, financial targets and risk appetite. You will have strong focus in new investments and related customer PPA’s.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing Fortum’s hedging portfolio (electricity, Guarantees of Origin, both existing and future assets) in the strategic delivery horizon
• Preparing hedging strategy and investment proposals, ensuring alignment with Fortum’s strategy, financial targets and risk appetite
• Optimising the usage of Fortum’s risk capital and developing investment risk calculation related capabilities
• Contributing to customer cases of high strategic importance by developing solutions to meet customer needs, aligned with Fortum’s own interests
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders

The position is permanent and located either in Espoo, Finland

About you

You bring with you a strong mix of portfolio management, quantitative and analytical expertise, technical skills and market knowledge to our team. We are looking for an individual with the following:

• A very strong analytical and mathematical background, supporting you in making well-reasoned assessments and approaching unforeseen challenges proactively
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, ability to work independently on complex quantitative analysis and modeling
• Solid understanding of the energy markets
• 7+ years of relevant working experience in finance and energy sectors in e.g. risk management (e.g. market/credit/cash liquidity), portfolio management or quantitative analysis/modelling
• Applicable academic degree
• Ability to adapt to changing situations
• Fluent in English, both written and oral
