About the role
Here, you will play a critical role in shaping Fortum’s project execution framework. This position is designed for a strategic doer who can execute and harmonise processes across multiple business units, ensuring consistency, transparency, and efficiency in project delivery.
Energy Asset PMO exists not only to streamline and standardize practices but also to provide top leadership with the reliable, consolidated information they need to make informed strategic decisions. By driving project governance and implementing robust KPIs, you will enable data-driven insights that influence decisions at the highest level of the organization. Your work will directly impact how projects are delivered across Fortum’s energy asset portfolio, giving you a unique opportunity to shape operational excellence while gaining exposure to diverse business areas and complex projects.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Implement Project Management KPIs across Business Units and Business Areas, ensuring portfolio-level alignment, transparency, and comparability.
- Harmonize project execution practices across Fortum Energy Assets.
- Drive cultural adoption of harmonised PMO practices and foster a mindset shift across Fortum’s business units.
- Support capability building through PM training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support scenario-based investment planning and governance processes.
- Take ownership of Energy Asset PMO key processes, including reporting, risk tracking, performance reviews and benchmark against industry standards.
- Proactively monitor projects, risks, and contractor performance using advanced analytics.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing across project teams.
About you
You have experience in developing and executing processes and PMO initiatives. A seasonal hands-on doer that is strategic and ensures there is KPI consistency and data-driven decisions in your work. Previously you have focused on implementing strategic actions and driving harmonisation while enhancing governance and adopting best practices to improve performance.
You are comfortable in a pivotal role when shaping our PMO practices and ensuring successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
Other things we think you have in order to succeed in this role:
- Higher degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management or related field.
- Several years of experience in Project Management and/or Operational Excellence processes in energy infrastructure or asset-heavy industries.
- Experience with project management and agile methodologies (e.g., PMI-PMP, Six Sigma, Agile/Scrum, PRINCE2).
- Proven experience in project management and PMO governance at a strategic level.
- Strong ability to implement harmonization and change management across diverse business units and demonstrated ability to persist and maintain focus in challenging environments, effectively navigating organisational resistance to ensure successful adoption of PMO practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, stakeholder management, influencing and coordination skills in order to work with all levels of management, personnel, and cross-functional teams in the organization.
- Self-driven individual – Able to drive ideas independently and challenge the status quo.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications with strong data visualisation skills in Power BI; familiarity with AI tools and technologies is considered a significant advantage.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Finnish and/or Swedish is considered a strong advantage.
