Senior Contract Manager

As a Senior Contract Manager, you will manage high-value and complex customer contracts, ensuring value is created for both Fortum and its customers while meeting contractual obligations, business requirements, and regulatory expectations. You will work in a dynamic environment characterized by regulatory, technical, and commercial uncertainties, balancing long-term commercial thinking with hands-on execution.

We are looking for someone with strong commercial acumen and experience managing complex, multi-offering contracts. You enjoy working across functions and stakeholder groups and can navigate changing circumstances while maintaining focus on business outcomes. 

This role is part of our Corporate Customers and Markets business unit. 

About the role 

Your responsibilities: 

• Manage complex, high-value, and long-term customer contracts (e.g. PPAs, flexibility, balancing, and other energy-related agreements), ensuring they are effectively translated into delivery, contractual obligations are met, risks are controlled, and contractual value is realized. You will have ownership of one or several complex customer contracts. 
• Implement all agreed contract-related procedures, working groups, and governance forums together with the customer, enabling both the customer and Fortum organizations to operate in accordance with the contract. 
• Apply commercial and contractual expertise to ensure delivery of contractual commitments. 
• Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and identify mutually beneficial, win-win solutions. 
• Drive effective change and claims management while proactively identifying upselling opportunities in line with the customer plan. 
• Contribute to the development and implementation of contract management best practices and AI-powered tools. 
• Manage the financial performance of contracts in line with revenue and margin targets by effectively utilizing relevant commercial and contractual levers. 
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Fortum’s business areas and enabling functions to ensure contract delivery and compliance. 

About you 

To succeed and thrive in this role, we believe you have: 

• A Master's degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field. 
• 8+ years of experience in contract management, operations, project delivery, and/or commercial execution, with a strong focus on managing complex contracts during the post-signature and delivery phases. 
• Experience working with complex B2B contracts, preferably within energy, infrastructure, or technology sectors, including strong drafting skills and the ability to produce commercially aligned contractual documentation fit for purpose. 
• A solid understanding of contract risk allocation and commercial drivers. 
• A comprehensive understanding of the broader energy landscape, including macroeconomic developments, commodity markets, asset management, and customer engagement. 
• An entrepreneurial mindset combined with a strong customer-centric approach, demonstrated through previous experience. 
• A results-oriented approach and the perseverance to overcome setbacks while delivering ambitious targets. 
• A strong analytical mindset and the ability to use data and evidence to identify opportunities and drive business value. 
• Excellent English language skills. Finnish or Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.
