Quantitative Developer

Do you want to shape the future of energy markets through quantitative modelling? We are looking for a Quantitative Developer to join Fortum Market Intelligence’s Quantitative Modelling team at our headquarters in Espoo.
About the role
Our team builds advanced tools and models that support market analysis, asset optimization, and pricing of Fortum’s PPA contracts. You will work on short-term modelling for day-ahead and TSO markets, long-term market and asset modelling, and data visualization solutions. We welcome applications from both experienced professionals and talented early-career developers, and the final job description will be tailored to reflect your skills and experience.
About you
Your Impact:
- Develop state-of-the-art market intelligence tools that drive Fortum’s strategic and operative decisions.
- Work with large datasets to uncover insights into the energy transition.
- Collaborate with experts to forecast market behavior across time horizons.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong programming skills, preferably Python.
- Experience in quantitative modelling and/or operations research, preferably within the domain.
- Understanding of the energy markets and interest in the energy system transition.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a curious, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Relevant degree in engineering, economics, or similar.
- Experience in renewables, batteries, ancillary markets, as well as Databricks and PowerBI, can be considered an asset.
- Fluent skills in English
