About the Role
We are looking for a Manager for our Control Centres and HFE team. This is a unique opportunity to lead a talented team of experts, drive innovative engineering solutions, and contribute to cutting-edge projects that ensure the safety and efficiency of nuclear power plants.
Your position in the organization is in the Technical Design department of Engineering & Projects (E&P) business area, located in Espoo, Finland. As part of the Technical Design department’s Leadership Team, you will collaborate closely with other team leads and report to the Director of the Technical Design department. Department has a wide range of different technical design competencies which are utilized on supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Loviisa nuclear power plant, our co-owned nuclear units, external nuclear customers, the development of new nuclear and nuclear R&D activities in Fortum as well as P2X business.
We utilize effective and flexible hybrid working model. The role requires occasional traveling to stakeholder premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Control Centres and HFE team.
- Oversee and steer the assignment scoping and planning, design and verification & validation of the control centre layout, conventional hardwired and modern digital user interfaces and human factors engineering affecting the ergonomics, operability and safety of especially nuclear operators working environment.
- Participate actively in design and development activities.
- Develop continuously the team’s competences and ensure that the capabilities meet the needs of our customers now and in the future.
- Ensure the highest standards of safety and quality, fostering a strong safety culture.
- Collaborate closely with other team leads and technical disciplines within the department and across E&P, Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant, and other internal and external stakeholders, including e.g. Nuclear Services, New Nuclear, Co-owned Nuclear Assets and P2X.
- Report to department and necessary stakeholders.
About you
What we are looking for:
- Passion for developing people and the team, with a proven track record in leading expert work.
- Strong technical capabilities and experience in human-machine interface design preferably in control centres, human factors engineering and instrumentation & control and related digital tools. Interest in usability, human factors, ergonomics and engineering psychology.
- Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to proactively implement development initiatives. Willingness to work according current processes and instructions and ability to develop them further.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in technical documentation writing and reviewing.
- Familiarity with Finnish nuclear power plant safety and regulatory requirements and experience in working within the nuclear engineering sector is considered as a clear advantage.
- A university degree in Instrumentation & Control (I&C) or other relevant engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Finnish proficiency is considered as an advantage.
