Environmental Specialist

We are now looking for an Environmental Specialist to join our Market Risk Management & EHSQ team, in Espoo, Finland.

About the role

As an Environmental Specialist you will have an important role in assuring the safety of Fortum's sites. You'll also have an impact in Fortum's environmental reporting and the development of monitoring the environmental permits.

You will be part of a professional Market Risk Management & EHSQ team to ensure the profitability and continuity of the Heating and Cooling business and to continuously search for new opportunities to improve it. You will join a team of 14 experts with high business development mindset, active cooperation and knowledge sharing across the areas. The position requires moving around the company's facilities in the Espoo area as needed.

Your main tasks include:

• support the operating organization in environmental matters (e.g. preparation and maintenance of instructions).
• monitor the environmental safety of the facilities (requires moving around Espoo area).
• regular EHS inspections in company’s facilities and also on construction sites.
• coordinate the implementation of environmental permit obligations e.g. noise and emission measurements).
• chemical safety monitoring and development.
• participate in annual environmental reporting.
• mandatory monitoring in accordance with environmental permits and also develop monitoring as needed.

About you

To succeed in the role we expect you to have the following:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or in natural sciences
• Knowledge of environmental management
• Fluency in Finnish, other language skills are considered an advantage
• Knowledge of the legislation in the field and management system standards such as ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2004, ISO9001:2015
• Previous experience in similar work tasks is considered an advantage
• Great teamwork skills, good approach to cooperating with the authorities and ability to work independently
