About the role

We are looking for a seasoned and business-oriented Director (M&A Legal) to lead the legal aspects of transactions within Fortum Group’s M&A team. The M&A team is responsible for leading, managing and executing M&A processes in accordance with Fortum’s strategy. The position is based in Espoo, Finland, with occasional travel.

 

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Leading the legal workstream in complex corporate transactions, including coordinating with business teams, corporate functions and external parties, managing due diligence reviews, as well as drafting and negotiating deal documentation.

  • Securing the most favorable terms for Fortum by understanding the underlying business logic of the deals.

  • Providing pragmatic and commercially-focused legal advice across a range of transactions.

  • Collaborating effectively across functions within a matrix organization and with external stakeholders.

 

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master of Laws degree.

  • At least 8 years of experience in legal M&A.

  • Experience working with a top tier law firm is a strong advantage; experience in energy related transactions is also beneficial.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Fluency in English and Finnish; proficiency in other languages (esp. Nordic) is an advantage.

  • Experience and/or training in finance is an advantage.
