Compliance Officer (Financial Energy Markets)

Perm/Temp:  Regular

Espoo, FI

Are you passionate about compliance and eager to play a pivotal role in building a new licensed financial market entity?

Fortum’s Corporate Customers and Markets (CCM) division is establishing a Financial Customer Portfolio Management (FINA CPM) service company, and we are looking for a Compliance Officer who wants to contribute to both the development of the new entity and its future operations.

About the Role
In this role, you will support the establishment of the new MiFID‑licensed entity and later act as the Compliance Officer once it is operational. This position is based in Espoo, Finland.

You will work closely with the Managing Director, the Management Team and the Board to ensure that the company follows all external and internal regulations. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence how the company’s compliance framework is set up from the outset, and to shape the routines and governance or the future. You will be part of an experienced team where collaboration, trust and integrity are valued.

As Compliance Officer, you will:

  • Participate in the FINA CPM project, supporting the team in applying for a MiFiD license and setting up the licensed entity.
  • Develop compliance policies, instructions, and processes for the new company.
  • Take responsibility for the company’s regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with reporting obligations.
  • Act as the Management’s and Board’s control organ, ensuring adherence to all external and internal rules and regulations.
  • Proactively identify, analyse, and evaluate compliance risks, and support the Managing Director in risk management.
  • Issue policies and guidelines, monitor process adherence, and implement changes when needed.
  • Fulfil reporting requirements to the Board and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead compliance training for staff and service providers.

About You
You are structured, independent and comfortable working in an environment where both development work and future operational routines need to be built. You communicate confidently with regulators and internal stakeholders, and you enjoy shaping new processes while ensuring high standards of compliance and governance.

You will also have:

  • Experience in compliance within a licensed financial market entity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial regulation (e.g. MiFID‑related requirements)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the Nordic electricity market or financial market.
  • Educational background in legal studies, preferably with a master’s degree.
  • Fluency in Finnish and English; communication with authorities and stakeholders requires excellent command of Finnish.
  • Proficiency in Swedish is highly beneficial for stakeholder communication.

We Offer You
In this role, you will have:

  • A unique opportunity to shape compliance in a new, strategically important entity.
  • The chance to work with a dynamic, forward-thinking team supporting industrial decarbonization.
  • Professional growth in a collaborative and innovative environment.
