AI & Digital Portfolio Lead

We are looking for an AI & Digital Portfolio Lead to accelerate the utilization of new digital technologies and drive change within the nuclear energy business. In this role, you will be responsible for managing digital and R&D portfolios and projects that align with our strategic goals. You will also be part of the Nuclear R&D leadership team, contributing to the direction and success of our digital initiatives. 

 
Your position in the organization is within the Strategy and R&D team of the New Nuclear business line, based in Espoo, Finland. Occasional travel to other Fortum office locations and to external international research partners is to be expected. 

The New Nuclear business line is responsible for developing and implementing Fortum’s nuclear newbuild projects, as well as overseeing nuclear research, development, and strategy.

The Strategy and R&D team leads the planning and tracking of Fortum’s strategy execution for the entire Nuclear Generation business unit, working closely with the nuclear business lines and the Corporate Strategy team. The team also manages Nuclear Research & Development, which includes internal project portfolios, strategic initiatives, and research collaborations. 

 
Your main focus areas are: 

• Guiding strategic digital development portfolio according to Fortum digital strategy and Nuclear Generation business unit implementation of the strategy 

• Leading the AI development in Nuclear Generation and connecting and aligning stakeholders necessary for the development including IT, corporate strategy and nuclear generation management as a business digital point of contact 

• The management of one or more of the portfolios supporting nuclear business lines and/or major strategic projects in Nuclear R&D to meets its business goals, including commercial results, budget, resourcing and schedules 

• Collecting, analyzing and acting on information from projects through project management methods and in close collaboration with the project managers and participants 

 
More detailed focus areas and assignments can be determined based on the applicant’s experience. In this role you will also coordinate and guide other project managers and experts in assignments.

We’re looking for a candidate who brings both experience and enthusiasm to industrial digital solution development. You’ll play a key role in identifying opportunities and driving implementation forward. 

What we expect from you: 

• Proven experience in developing industrial digital solutions from identifying needs to leading implementation 

• Familiarity with engineering workflows and practical plant operations 

• Strong skills in project and portfolio management 

• Curiosity and excitement about new digital technologies, you learn fast and inspire others 

• Higher university-level education in a relevant field 

• Comfortable collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders 

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Finnish or Swedish is considered an advantage 

• Understanding of the safety-critical nature of the nuclear industry
